Brandi Ostergard Named RHS August 2015 Employee of the Month

Ostergard_Brandi_5x7_WEBBrandi Ostergard, Ophthalmic Assistant for the Perryville Eye department, has been named RHS August 2015 Employee of the Month. Brandi’s nomination speaks to her positive attitude, excellent customer service skills and her ability to connect with patients.  Her manager relays she routinely receives letters, phone calls and positive comments from patients regarding the excellent service experience they had with Brandi.  Her nomination also identifies Brandi as a great role model, flexible, dependable, highly skilled and a joy to work with.

Active Aging Series: Neurointerventional Stroke Care

brain_photoRockford Health System and Wesley Willows are proud to present the Active Aging series of educational topics for your healthy life. Active Aging presentations will be offered the first Thursday of every month. The events, held at 4142 Johns Farm Road in the Town Center of Wesley Willows, are free and the public is welcome to attend.

The series continues on Thursday, September 3 at 4 p.m. with a discussion entitled, “Interventional Stroke Care: Past, Present and Future.” Stroke care management has gone beyond only using clot-busting medication. For patients with stroke, brain aneurysm, and other brain and spine diseases, neurointerventional surgery offers the highest standard of care available. Join Asif Khan, M.D., a neurointerventional surgeon at Rockford Health Physicians, as he discusses new methods which will allow you to continue your active life.

Rockford Health System Welcomes William Sandoval, M.D.

Sandoval_William_MD_WEBWilliam Sandoval, M.D., has joined Rockford Health Physicians, working out of our new Belvidere clinic, located at 1747 Henry Luckow Lane. Dr. Sandoval earned his medical degree at University of San Carlos de Guatemala, Guatemala City. He completed residencies in family practice at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago and in ophthalmology at the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. He studied aerospace medicine while in the United States Air Force from 1992-1995 and currently serves in the United States Air Force Reserves.  He speaks English and Spanish. For more information about Dr. Sandoval call (815) 971-DRDR (3737).

MercyRockford Health System Announces Exciting Plans: One Hospital on Two Campuses

riversideMercyRockford Health System today announced plans to create one hospital on two campuses in Rockford, enhancing access and health care services for the Rockford community and the greater northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin region. The new MercyRockford Health System, formed by the merger of Mercy Health System and Rockford Health System in January of 2015, plans to continue operating a vibrant and robust hospital campus on its current N. Rockton Avenue site. Additionally, MercyRockford plans to construct a second campus on 263 acres at the intersection of E. Riverside Boulevard and the I-90 interstate highway. Continue reading

Rockford Health System Welcomes Tabraiz Mohammed, D.O., M.S.

Mohammed_Tabraiz_MD_webTabraiz Mohammed, D.O., M.S., has joined the Cancer Center at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Dr. Mohammed earned his medical degree at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Ill. He completed a residency in internal medicine, eventually becoming chief resident, and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison. He is board certified in internal medicine. His professional interests include general oncology; hematology; cancer prevention; medical education; GI and lung cancer research; and cancer survivorship. He speaks English and Hindi. MD-1 Emergency Response Program Offered by MercyRockford Health System

MD1WREX featured the new MD-1 emergency response program offered by MercyRockford Health System. Rockford Memorial Hospital is dispatching doctors as first responders with advanced lifesaving medical equipment for local trauma cases. MD-1 does not replace EMS teams already in the field; they provide additional support in field trauma cases. Watch the story on their website.

A.W.A.K.E. Group Meeting at Rockford Memorial Hospital on August 11

(Alert, Well, and Keeping Energetic) Group meeting at Rockford Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 11, in Café 2400 Dining Rooms 2-9 at 6 p.m. Neurologist Mohsin Khan, M.D., who is board certified in sleep medicine, will present on “Headaches and Sleep.” The group is sponsored by RHS Sleep Disorders Clinic, SwedishAmerican Sleep Disorders Center, and OSF Sleep Disorders Center. The public is welcome to attend this free event.
