Otis Caple, C.N.A., on the ICU Step Down Unit has been named RHS January 2015 Employee of the Month. Otis’s nominations relay that patients often request him by name to be their CNA and he has received multiple positive comments from his patients and their families. Coworkers describe Otis as a team player with a positive attitude, smiling face, a pleasure to work with and always willing to help. His coworkers also state that whenever Otis is working they know it will be a good day!

Rockford Health System and Wesley Willows are proud to present the Active Aging series of educational topics for your healthy life. Active Aging presentations will be offered the first Thursday of every month. The events, held at 4142 Johns Farm Road in the Town Center of Wesley Willows, are free and the public is welcome to attend.
The series continues on February 5 at 4 p.m. with a discussion on “The Beat Goes On: Atrial Fibrillation, the Most Common Irregular Heart Rhythm.” Atrial fibrillation is the most common abnormal heart rhythm, the odds increasing with age. Symptoms include feeling dizzy, out of breath, weak and tired. Or sometimes, there are no symptoms at all. Join cardiologist/electrophysiologist Jeffrey Smith, M.D. as he discusses what you need to know so you can live a healthy, active life.

Rockford Health System announces Rose Rainer, R.N., with the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice has been named as the 2014 Employee of the Year. Rose was selected from 12 outstanding candidates who earned Employee of the Month awards throughout the year.
Rose is a certified hospice and palliative care nurse. She began in the Step Down Cardiac Care unit in 2009 and moved into VNA Hospice in 2012. A team player, Rose is always willing to pick up extra work days or on call shifts when needed. She’ll often pick up extra visits if she has finished her assignments early and frequently adjusts her schedule to accommodate her patient’s needs.
Coworkers describe Rose as the epitome of nurse excellence and an incredible patient advocate. She has a feisty spirit, which they say helps her when she goes to bat for the best interest of her patients and their families. She remains professional at all times, and her experience, calm manner and critical thinking skills help ease difficult situations.
