Active Aging presentations will be offered the first Thursday of every month . The events, held at the Town Center of Wesley Willows, are free and the public is welcome to attend.

Dennis Esselman, CT / MRI Technologist, has been named RHS February 2014 Employee of the Month. Patients, co-workers, and other departments that interact with Dennis think very highly of him and enjoy his caring ways and good humor. Dennis was also recognized for his great technical abilities, dependability and sharing his knowledge by teaching other staff and students.

Rockford Health System’s Marketing and Public Relations Department received four ADDY Awards during the Rockford Chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) celebration on February 13. The awards recognize excellence in advertising in the local market.
RHS received a silver ADDY for the television commercial “Surgical Excellence.” The health system also received three bronze ADDY Awards: one under the digital advertising category for the Rockford Health System website; another for the direct marketing piece “Wishbook 2013 – Hometown Wishes;” and the Rockford Health Gala 14 – New Beginnings was recognized under the collateral material category.
The Women’s Center at Rockford Health System presents, “Nutrition’s Role in Preventing & Treating Cancer” on Wednesday, February 19 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Good nutrition is vital to good health. It’s as important to understand what you should be eating as it is to know what you need to avoid.

Do you have questions about diabetes? On Saturday, February 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tracy L. Muhammad, M.D. of Rockford Health Physicians will participate in the Women’s Health Series at the Booker T. Washington Center in Rockford. She will walk you through a self-assessment for the borderline and diagnosed diabetic. Together, you will explore what it means to be a diabetic, the pitfalls and bad habits of some diabetics, plus give you healthy living tips on how to live with diabetes. Rockford Health System welcomes Hosne Ara Begum, M.D. to the Cancer Center at Rockford Memorial Hospital, where she specializes in Hematology and Oncology. She is Board Certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine.
While at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., she completed fellowships in Hematology and Medical Oncology and a residency in Internal Medicine, earning “Outstanding First Year Resident” recognition.
