Elisha Robinson, M.D. to Participate in Women’s Health Series on Saturday

Rockford Health System and Wesley Willows Kick Off the Active Aging Series

ActiveAgingRockford Health System and Wesley Willows are proud to present the Active Aging series of educational topics for your healthy life. Active Aging presentations will be offered the first Thursday of every month. The public is welcome to attend.

The first in the series will be “What You Need to Know for a Healthy Heart” on Thursday, February 6 at 4 p.m. at Wesley Willows. As you age, your body needs change. Decisions you make regarding nutrition and exercise will impact your health in the coming years. Join Richard P. Yolanda Arnold Named RHS January 2014 Employee of the Month

Yoland.ArnoldYolanda Arnold, night shift lead Central Service Tech, has been named RHS January 2014 Employee of the Month.  Yolanda was recognized by Emergency department staff for being responsive, outgoing, dependable, helpful and always answering the phone with a smile in her voice.  Her coworkers and manager say Yolanda is a hard-working, team player who takes the initiative to resolve issues and quickly adapts to address any situation.

Rockford Health System Welcomes Rajeev K. Deveshwar, M.D.

Rajeev.DeveshwarRockford Health System welcomes Rejeev K. Deveshwar, M.D. to the Brain and Spine Center, where he specializes in Neurointerventional Surgery. He completed several fellowships, including:

  • Interventional Neuroradiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit
  • MRI Neuroradiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City

He also served the following residencies:

  • Neurology at the University of Louisville Affiliated Hospitals
  • Radiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City and
    William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich.

After graduating from the University of Liverpool Medical School in England and Fellow Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, Scotland, he performed the following internships:

  • General Surgery at North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary in Stroke-on-Trent, England
  • General Medicine at City General Hospital in Stroke-on-Trent, England

His clinical interests and research include:

  • Brain aneurysms
  • Brain and spine
  • Arterio-venous malformations
  • Stroke
  • Carotid Stenting

Rockford Health System Salutes Jan Asprooth: Our 2013 Employee of the Year

asproothRockford Health System announces Jan Asprooth, a customer service representative in the Outreach Lab at Rockford Memorial Hospital, has been named as the 2013 Employee of the Year. Jan was selected from 12 outstanding candidates who earned Employee of the Month awards throughout the year.

Jan has worked at RHS for 35 years. She began her career at as an outpatient registration clerk in Admitting in 1979. In her current position as a customer service representative, she answers phones for inpatient and outpatient lab inquiries. According to her supervisor, Nicole Radford, Jan is successful at her job because she has such a kind, sweet and calming spirit.

A team player, Jan is the kind of person who will bend over backwards to help you. She has a compassion for others that shines through on a daily basis. Customers, both internal and external, know when they interact with Jan their needs will be met because she is known for her follow through and persistence. Jan’s peers comment that she always has a smile on her face no matter what challenges or issues are in front of her. Even those who have never met her in person and only deal with the Outreach Lab by phone, say they can hear the smile in Jan’s voice.

RHS congratulates Jan Asprooth, the 2013 Employee of the Year. The organization also recognizes and thanks all 11 other nominees honored this past year.

Rockford Health System Welcomes May Hashimi, M.D. to the Cancer Center

MayHashimiRockford Health System welcomes May Hashimi, M.D. to the Cancer Center at Rockford Memorial Hospital, where she specializes in Hematology and Oncology. She completed several fellowships, including:

  • Cardiology Research at the University of Kuwait,
  • Immunology Research at the Cancer Research Institute of Vienna University in Austria,
  • Medical Oncology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.,
  • Clinical Hematology at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.

She also served a residency in Internal Medicine at Veterans Administration Medical Center and an Internship in Internal Medicine at Booth Memorial Medical Center at the New York Hospital of Queens. She earned her medical degree at the University of Baghdad Medical School in Iraq.

Her professional interests include patient education; encouraging healthy lifestyles; women and dietary issues; and health maintenance. She speaks English, German and Arabic.
